About the experience

Experience the Craftsmanship of Thatched Roofing

Craftsmen's skills passed down from generation to generation in the satoyama

The traditional "thatched roofing" which can be said to be a symbol of Japan's original landscape has been supported by the skills of skilled craftsmen, protecting people's lives up to the present day. While touching upon the structure and history of thatched roofing, you will have the opportunity to experience roof thatching on a roof structure assembled on the ground.

Experience using craftsmen's tools to actually thatch a roof

Experience in a craftsman style wearing a happi coat and tenugui towel

You will experience thatching in a craftsman style wearing an original happi coat and tenugui towel. Using straw materials, you will use tools that actual craftsmen use to thatch a roof. You can feel the sense of achievement in thatching a roof as if you were a craftsman. You can enjoy the experience while experiencing the role sharing that takes place during actual thatching. Although it is an outdoor experience, it will be held in a facility with a roof, so it can be experienced even in rainy weather.
