What sightseeing facilities are available nearby?

Miyama-cho is located almost in the center of Kyoto Prefecture, and various famous sightseeing spots can be reached in about an hour.

I arrived in Miyama earlier than the check-in time. Is there any recommended way to spend time?

If you arrive in Miyama before the check-in time, we recommend renting a bicycle or taking a stroll. We will provide you with an original walking map of the area upon your arrival, so please feel free to enjoy the nature-rich Miyama with it as a reference. Additionally, there are several cafes and lunch spots in the vicinity of our inn. We can also hold your luggage upon your arrival if needed.

Is there a river nearby where we can swim and play?

Regarding a place where you can enjoy playing in the river, we recommend the nearby Yura River, which flows in front of the Miyama FUTON&Breakfast. Local children also use this river for playing. Guests staying at KAYAVilla, Mitoya, and Hyakujikkou can also come to the Miyama FUTON&Breakfast and swim there. Please use the Miyama FUTON&Breakfast's parking lot in that case.
However, please note that the river is about 6 meters wide and the depth suddenly drops to about 2 meters in some places, so it is not a shallow river where small children can enjoy swimming. Please be aware of this in advance.
There is also a swimming area near EISA which is a few minutes' walk away. (If you have small children, we recommend the upstream river near the Miyama Nature&Culture Village.)

Are there any places to play near where we stay?

The area around our inn is a rural landscape, and unfortunately, there are no theme parks or facilities for children to play nearby.
However, there is natural beauty to be enjoyed, such as catching tadpoles or frogs in the fields, searching for stag beetles in the mountains, or picking wild vegetables according to the season. We hope you will enjoy the nature of Miyama while taking a stroll or renting a bicycle.
In addition, Miyama has many charming local residents. As you explore the area, we recommend ringing the bell with the head priest at a nearby temple, visiting a charcoal kiln workshop, or picking chestnuts or gummy bears together. Please enjoy the opportunity to interact with the locals you encounter in Miyama.
